Walking Cities Winnipeg

Walking Cities Winnipeg documents two writers, Katherena Vermette from Winnipeg and  Harry Giles from Scotland, sharing their thoughts and poetry with regards to place. It was a partnership project between British Council Canada and the Winnipeg International Writer's Festival. I applied to the British Council Canada as an emerging filmmaker and was chosen to film the video.

The original plan was for the two writers to give a public walking tour, making stops to perform their poetry and discuss how place affects their work, but unpredictable Winnipeg weather struck and the event was moved inside. I adapted and filmed b-roll to match the writer's "imaginary walk" and poetry.

This project allowed me to use a gimbal, film a live event, and adapt to changing circumstances. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to create visuals for these amazing poets' words and represent Winnipeg.
